I am obviously new to this “tagging” business because it took me a couple days to figure out what I am suppose to do with the shout out that Phelan gave me. She writes a great blog called “A Homesteading Neophyte“. The challenging question is “What will you refuse to give up to save Mother Earth?” That’s hard. Hmmm…. #1) Fine cheese – I don’t
My New Scooter
My love for things with two wheels began a long time ago. When my dad pushed me down the hill in our backyard on my bike without training wheels as a child, I was scared to death but on some level found the experience quite thrilling. Years later, I adore my grown up bike, a Peugeot, and I get a kick out of being on
Waiting
I planned to write a nice long post Friday afternoon, but that didn’t happen. I got home that sunny afternoon and my mom called me, sobbing on the other end of the phone. My 84 year old grandfather is not doing well. I knew he went into the hospital Wednesday night, but you just get used to people recovering, so I assumed he would. My
Jay 3.0
I have been missing in action the last several days because we have been celebrating what I am calling “Jay 3.0”. In other words, my fabulous husband Jay turned 30 this past weekend. I spent my college years there attending the University of Oregon and a few monumental things occurred during that time which have left me with fond memories of this little town. My work sent me down there Friday and a work connection hooked Jay and I up with an overnight stay at a lovely

I can see how my routines look awfully strange to people sometimes. When I recap my weekend, for example, it’s usually a stark contrast to other people’s weekends. My evenings typically stray this direction as well. So I thought I would recap my evening tonight as an example. First things first – I stopped by New Seasons on the way home from work to pick
First Anniversary
One year ago today I wrote my first blog post. I tried to keep an agreement with myself that I would write at least once a week, and I held true to that for the most part. The goal was to keep a gardening journal of sorts. One post a week turned to two posts a week. Lately I’ve been writing more like three. Sometimes
101 Posts
I totally spaced that the post before this one was my 100th post, so I’ll just have this one acknowledge 101 posts! Pretty fun to hit the triple digits and I don’t see anything slowing down for awhile.
Mysterious Happenings
Strange things are afoot in my backyard. And front yard. First: the weather. The temperature has been dropping here, close to or at freezing some nights. Strange for Portland in April. This evening I was walking through the backyard feeling very lucky that I came up with my raised bed cloche things right when the weather turned sour – hopefully those lettuce, spinach, and collards
